About This Research
This research is being collected for an MSc Geographical Information Science Dissertation Project at the University of Manchester. It investigates the power of Public Participatory GIS (PPGIS) in understanding community perceptions of environmental risk in West Cumbria.
What is PPGIS? Public Participatory GIS is an approach that uses mapping tools to gather local knowledge and lived experiences from members of the public. Your responses will form part of a spatial dataset that maps community perceptions of radioactive contamination risk across the region.
What does the survey involve? You will be asked a few background questions and then invited to mark areas on a map where you perceive the greatest and least risk of radioactive contamination in West Cumbria. There are no right or wrong answers — this survey is about your personal perceptions.
All data collected is completely anonymous. No personally identifiable information is stored. You may stop participating at any time without consequence.
